I'm currently reading LOVE & DEATH IN BURGUNDY by Susan C. Shea. This book is the first book in a debut mystery series which was released last month.
Katherine Goff and her husband, Michael, having been living in the small French village of Reigny-sur-Canne for three years, yet they are still struggling for acceptance. Befriending both new foreign neighbors as well as long time residents can be tricky, especially as emotions and long held resentments run high. When an elderly and prominent neighbor calls in a state of shock saying her husband has died after falling down the stairs, Katherine rushes to her assistance. Did she misunderstand the woman's hurried French? Did she actually say murder? Surely, the man fell down the steep medieval staircase accidentally. Didn't he? A desire to fit in and unadulterated curiosity combine to prompt Katherine to look closer into the matter. Will she discover the truth of his death, or more secrets than she's able to handle?
