Buy a Friend a Book Day

Today is Buy a Friend a Book Day! Lisa K., of Lisa Ks Book Reviews, is promoting the event on Facebook. The concept is easy. On August 31, 2014 buy a friend a book! You could have bought the book earlier to give today. Or you can buy a book today and give it to your friend when you are able. The recipient doesn't need to be a friend either. He or she could be a family member, acquaintance, or a perfect stranger!

I think this idea is wonderful. It supports reading, friendship, and promotes the authors we love as well! I'm giving a few books away. I have one already, which I'll be mailing to my friend on Tuesday. I'll be giving an e-book to another friend today. I also plan on buying a "real" book or two and giving them to another friend...or two. And then there's you...my readers. I will mail a book, or send an e-book, to one of you as well. If you'd like a book from me all you have to do is comment on this post and tell me if you'd prefer me to mail you a "real" book (US readers only) or an e-book (any country, including US). Also let us know if you knew about this holiday prior to reading my post and if you plan on buying a friend a book. Also feel free to talk about your favorite types of books. Let me know your e-mail address so that I can contact you should Random.org choose your comment as the one winner.

  1. Thank you, Kathi for featuring Book A Friend A Book Day! Author Laura Bradford and I were talking on evening about how there should be a day where people buy a book for someone for no reason at all. After talking to her, that evening I couldn't get the thought out of my head. So August 31, 2013, the first annual Buy A Friend A Book Day happened! People were so excited and it turned out wonderfully! I'm happy to say that this, the second annual Buy A Friend A Book Day is even bigger and better! Happy Buy A Friend A Book Day everyone!

  3. Buy a Friend a Book Day is the coolest idea ever! I enjoy buying books for my friends & relatives but I didn't know there was a day dedicated to doing so until I read you facebook post. I'm going to buy my cousin a book. She lives in Idaho & I live in Texas so we don't get to see one another very often but we chat on facebook all the time. I'd like an e-book if I'm lucky enough to be chosen by Random.

  5. Buy a Friend a Book day is a wonderful idea which I approve of highly. I send books to friends and relatives regularly and give friends in town books that I know they will enjoy. I have been giving out books to friends for years since I want them to appreciate and enjoy books. I would love a print book. Many thanks for this special giveaway. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com
