Spotlight - Turkeys, Tuxes, and Tabbies & Giveaway

Today I'd like to shine a spotlight on a Thanksgiving mystery by Kathi Daley. Turkeys, Tuxes, and Tabbies is the 10th in the Zoe Donovan Mystery series and was released October 1st.

“When the cat lady of Ashton Falls is found dead in her home just days before Thanksgiving, Zoe must track down a killer while dealing with a house full of socialites who have come to Ashton Falls to bid on Zak in a high class bachelor auction. When Zoe narrows the field of suspects down to none, she must dig into her arsenal of sleuthing skills to find a new angle while dealing with a friend in crisis and struggling to keep kitten triplets from destroying the house she shares with Zak. Join Zoe and the gang as she plans a Thanksgiving feast, while sharing an intimate moment with the mother she is still getting to know, and offering heartfelt advice to a friend in need."

Recipes included.

Kathi Daley has generously offered one of my readers with either a print or e-book copy of Turkeys, Tuxes, and Tabbies. Sorry, the print option is only for US readers. All you have to do is comment, sharing a Thanksgiving memory. Please also leave an e-mail address so that I may contact you should you win. I love Kathi's book and can't wait to read this one. Thanksgiving is a happy time for me because every few years my birthday falls on Thanksgiving. Well my 18th birthday happen to fall on Thanksgiving and while I was happy, it also kinda sucked cause I was 18 and all of my friends were busy with family, as was I, but I also wanted to have a party. Well later in the day the guy I liked (who I am now married to) called and wanted to take me out for my birthday. I don't remember what we did, all I remember is that he saved the day for me and made it the best birthday ever!!!

  2. The only memory I have is putting the turkey in the oven the night before, but setting the temperature too high for an overnight....very dry turkey, but we salvaged enough to eat . :-)

  4. I love Kathi's books. The Thanksgiving memory I have is the first year i was married. My hubby told me i could sleep in because he would take care of the turkey. I woke at noon (which i never do) and asked how things were going. He went to check on the turkey and realized that he forgot to turn on the oven. Needless to say, we ate out that year. 5. I have a funny story about a Thanksgiving from my husband's childhood. We both have lived in northeast Ohio along Lake Erie and have dealt with the threat of Lake Effect Snow. His family had been invited to share Thanksgiving with relatives in Erie, approximately 30 miles from where they lived. As they started their trek the roads became more and more impassable due to the snow so they had to turn around. Needless to say they didn't have the traditional Thanksgiving dinner - it was hot dogs and pork and beans. lol! This is his favorite story to share at Thanksgiving. robeader53@yahoo.com

  6. My thanksgiving preparation is a concentration and effort on my own and when I was younger I hadn't a clue about what to make, how to make it and the cooking was less than appetizing. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com

  7. My thanksgiving memories are the great family dinners my mother cooked. The dinners don't happen now, but they were great then.

    1. It's a bit sad when those family dinners can no longer occur. But, at least we have the wonderful memories!

  8. This happened in my early years of cooking the Thanksgiving dinner. I remember waiting & waiting for the turkey to reach the desired temp. I had all the other dishes almost ready. It turned out the turkey wasn't completely thawed, so dinner was a lot later than we had planned :)

  11. I fondly remember getting up early on Thanksgiving to "help" my mom - which was mainly me watching her. Though I did help tear the bread for stuffing the night before. Once the turkey was in the oven, we would eat pumpkin pie while watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on TV. I still do that with my girls. :)

  12. Thanksgiving is always a nice day for us. Not so nice, though, one year when I turned on the self-cleaning oven and it caught on fire.

  14. We were invited over to my Cousin's House for Thanksgiving dinner. She had promised us a feast and my mouth watered everytime I thought of Turkey and dressing and real cranberries. Anne showed all 15 of us to the Living Room as we arrived. "I have fixed a huge turkey plenty for all of us over twenty pounds," and she swung open the doors to the Dining Room. No Turkey! She ran up and down... back and forth and finally in the yard. The Great Dane was happily polishing it off after he had opened one of the french doors.

  15. I remember cooking dinner for my husbands army friends when he was stationed in Alaska---I cooked a 26 pound turkey and there were NO leftovers!
Since only my husband stops me from being the local catlady, I think I should read this book. Thanks for the contest.

  18. A couple years ago, my youngest son and family was here with us for Thanksgiving. We had no more finished eating, when the oldest of the children who was about 5, wanted to know when we were going to start decorating for Christmas.

  20. As my parents have grown older, the kids, grandkids and great grandkids all work together to prepare the traditional turkey dinner at their house. It's less stressful for everyone. We all clean up too.

  22. I have never come across this series before and would love to win a hard copy. My favorite Thanksgiving was the ones when I had it at my home and my in-laws, sister-in-law and her family, my parents, my sister and her kids, my three kids all came for dinner. The older kids would often bring their boyfriend or girlfriend and I put out extra tables and decorated with a Fall theme. The younger kids would make place settings of turkeys out of colored paper and toliet paper tubes. They may have looked most un-turkey like, but everyone congratulated the kids on their artistic talent. Then of course was the traditional turkey dinner. But the best was besides the pumpkin pie, the mince meat pie I made just because my dad and my father-in-law looked forward to it. Now the older folks have passed on, the kids are grown and scattered and only 3 of my grandkids live nearby. I am a widow and I will be eating dinner out with two of my kids, a son-in-law and an adult grandson. newbride@comcast.net

I remember being 14 & dumping a pie onto the floor trying to avoid stepping a dog. I was so upset but yet I was laughing so hard.

  24. My favorite Thanksgiving memory is one year when we lived in Augusta Georgia and the kids were in middle school or high school and we spent Thanksgiving in Hilton Head SC with 80 weather and we were in the pool and it was just the most beautiful day! kphans08@gmail.com

  25. First Thanksgiving I took my future husband to with my WHOLE family. I was so embarrased... they don't have the best manners so I was a tad scared, he was too. Then between my grandma and future hubby they were telling the most bizarre kind of risque jokes back and forth I wanted to cry but grandma loved him. 25 years later still together. himrsfish@yahoo.com
