Kathy: Stories of a centuries-old ghost haunting the Bay Island lighthouse are featured in GRAVE CONSEQUENCES. I love reading about and visiting haunted buildings. Do you?
LG: I do! I lived on Long Island for most of my life, and we often visited places that were believed to be haunted, including the King’s Park Psychiatric Center (though only from the outside) which I’d love to base a story on. When we moved to Florida, one of the first things my daughter did was search for haunted places we could visit.
Kathy: Cass is coming to her own as a true medium. Have you talked with mediums yourself?
LG: I did visit a medium several years ago, and she was surprisingly accurate about both things that had happened in the past and things that would happen. She did predict two things that haven’t happened. Yet.
Kathy: Have you ever had a ghostly encounter?
LG: I have had several. I used to clean houses on Long Island, and one of the houses I cleaned was haunted, according to the owner. Twice, I put a garbage pail in one place only to come back later and find it across the room when I was the only one there. When my middle son was a baby, I woke to someone shaking my shoulder. I opened my eyes expecting to see my husband or my daughter, but no one was there. When I looked down, I found my son with his head completely wrapped in a blanket. When I pulled the blanket off, his face was beat red and sweating. And my youngest, who was two at the time, pointed out two ghosts at different times. Two of my favorite questions to ask on tours and in Facebook parties are; Do you believe in ghosts? And; Do you believe some people can communicate with them?
Kathy: Was there a specific inspiration for this story?
LG: This series was inspired by an ongoing debate in my house over whether or not ghosts exist. My daughter and I believe they do, while my husband is adamant they’re not real. I thought it would be fun to have a main character who was uncertain and one friend on each shoulder offering differing opinions.
Kathy: Are you able to share any future plans for Cass Donovan?
LG: I believe Cass is going to think about doing a series of vlogs with Bee to help generate income for the winters, as well as having Mystical Musings become a stop on Bay Island’s new haunted tours. And I’m pretty sure she’ll end up with a murder to investigate.
Kathy: Will you share any other upcoming books?
LG: After GRAVE CONSEQUENCES, the next Bay Island Psychic Mystery will release some time in May of 2021. A WAFFLE LOT OF MURDER, All-Day Breakfast Café #4, is due to release on October 6, 2020, and WHOLE LATTE MURDER, All-Day Breakfast Café Mysteries #5, is due to release in April or May of 2021.

Review
GRAVE CONSEQUENCES by Lena Gregory
The Fifth Bay Island Psychic Mystery
GRAVE CONSEQUENCES is a story of friendship. The deep bond between Cass and Bee is evidenced by all that they do for each other. Even though each can get annoyed with the other, they are always there for each other and would give everything to help the other person, no matter what. Such friendships are rare and should be cherished.
This fifth Bay Island Psychic Mystery is emotional. Watching Cass suffer as she tries to get a handle on her new abilities, her inability to understand messages received, and fear for her friends keep the tension high. New characters, including a possible mentor for Cass, along with a tragic ghost story provide intriguing new storylines. Filled with lots of twists and turns GRAVE CONSEQUENCES keeps readers guessing.
Although this is a more somber mystery, laughs and humorous scenes serve to lighten it. I especially love how Beast raises the vibe of every scene he's in. GRAVE CONSEQUENCES is a compelling mystery that kept me engrossed from start to finish.

Cass Donovan is reminded that you can’t believe everything you hear, especially when it comes from the dead . . .
When stories begin circulating of a centuries-old ghost haunting the Bay Island lighthouse, Cass is caught up in mystical happenings of her own, with countless voices from the beyond all clamoring for her attention with dire warnings. But before she has a chance to learn whether there’s a connection between the rumored ghost and her restless visitors, the lighthouse keeper mysteriously falls to his death, and Cass’s reputation for communing with the dead lands her right in the middle of the police investigation.
Cass knows the victim was no saint, as he made little effort to hide his philandering ways from his wife or anyone else, and often acted out with no thought for the feelings of others. But had he finally gone too far, or were there more menacing motives behind his murder? As Cass begins building a list of suspects, including the man’s supposedly grieving wife and a mysterious new woman in town, she also turns her ear to those otherworldly voices, hoping for a clue. And as she begins to close in on the culprit, she realizes too late that if she’s not careful, she’ll soon be communicating with the dead in person . . .

Thank you, Kay!!
DeleteThis sounds interesting. My father used to tell ghost stories that happened to him when he lived at home. I wrote them down in my genealogy file for him. Thanks for this opportunity.
