Mistletoe, Moussaka, & Murder - A Review & Giveaway

Review

MISTLETOE, MOUSSAKA, & MURDER by Tina Kashian
The Fifth Kebab Kitchen Murder

With a lot of community spirit and with the benefit of the senior citizen center in mind Lucy Berberian and her best friend Katie are braving the December cold and participating in the town's polar plunge. Almost all of the Ocean Crest merchants are represented, even Deacon Spooner, the unpleasant reception hall owner. The pair are chilled to the bone from their icy dip, but chilled even more when Deacon's lifeless body is found on the shore. It wasn't a heart attack, someone drowned the man in broad daylight, with most of the town present!

Winter on the boardwalk is a different kind of wonderful. I can barely imagine snow and sand combined. What's not as hard to imagine is Lucy getting involved in another murder! The fifth Kebab Kitchen mystery has Lucy perplexed. Despite her quiet digging, she can't figure out the latest murder, until she quite literally walks into the answer. There is some brilliant foreshadowing here. In one case it was the complete antithesis!

I love the relationships between all of the characters and the verisimilitude of the setting. Detailed descriptions make me feel that I'm right there with Lucy and her friends and family. Lucy's hesitancy regarding her upcoming nuptials is honest, as is her love for Azad. I also smile at the relationship between Lucy's parents, especially when celebrity Chef Kurt is involved. As for Gadoo, I want to cuddle him and give him lots of extra treats!

MISTLETOE, MOUSSAKA, & MURDER is a heartfelt family mystery that combines good food and the warmth of community against the backdrop of cold blooded murder.

Mass Market Paperback: 336 pages

Not even her impending nuptials can keep Lucy Berberian, manager of her family-owned Kebab Kitchen, from the Jersey Shore’s annual Polar Bear Plunge. But her dive into the icy ocean is especially chilling when she finds a fellow swimmer doing the dead man’s float—for real . . .

Who would kill a man in cold blood during Ocean Crest, New Jersey’s most popular winter event? When Lucy learns the victim is Deacon Spooner, the reception hall owner who turned up his nose—and his price—at her wedding plans, she can’t help wondering who wouldn’t kill the pompous caterer . . .

Perhaps the culprit is the wedding cake baker whose career Deacon nearly destroyed? Or the angry bride whose reception he ruined? With her maid of honor, Katie, busily planning Lucy’s wedding without her, Lucy will have to get to the bottom of this cold-hearted business in time for Kebab Kitchen’s mouthwatering Christmas celebration—and before her hometown’s holiday spirit washes out to sea . . .
